Nimrud, Northern Iraq / Turkish border

On Sunday I posted a review of Agatha Christie Mallowan's delightful memoir of her time spent on digs in the Near East with her husband, the renowned archaeologist, Max Mallowan, Come, tell me how you live. Last night I saw a snippet of news - the Nimrud ivories, excavated in what is now Northern Iraq by Max (and cleaned by Agatha!) are about to go on display at the British Museum after a massive fund-raising effort.
